Comments, reactions and mentions

How people engage with posts — comment, react with an emoji, and @mention someone.

Updated 2 July 2026

Comments

You can comment on posts, stories and event-feed posts, and reply to other comments in a thread. A comment can be text, or a GIF or image on its own — a GIF with no words counts as a comment. When you reply to someone, and the post's author, both get a notification.

Deleting a comment: you can delete your own comments. The post's author (or, on an event feed, the event's organiser) can also remove comments on their post.

Reactions

React to a post or story with one of six emoji:

  • ❤️ Love
  • 🎉 Celebrate
  • 💨 Fast
  • 💪 Strength
  • 🥶 Grit
  • 🤯 Wow

The author is notified when you react. Tap your reaction again to remove it.

Mentions

Type @ and start a name to mention someone — an athlete, a team, an event or an organiser. Pick them from the list, and the @name links to their page.

When you mention a person, they get a mention notification. Mentioning a team, event or organiser links to its page but doesn't send it a notification.

Good to know

  • You can see and engage with anything public; followers-only content is visible only if you follow the author.
  • If a comment or post is removed, its text is cleared but the thread stays readable.
  • Choose which of these buzz your phone in Preferences and quiet hours.
