Every event has one of four privacy levels. They control who can find it and who can watch it.

Anonymous watching (no login, no app, no payment) is a promise for public and unlisted events. Private and members events are the exception: they need a sign-in, and the live map, leaderboard and results stay closed to anyone who isn't taking part or on staff.
Public
Appears in Events and is fully watchable by anyone — the map, trails, leaderboard, route and results. Best for events that want an audience.
Unlisted
Doesn't show up in Events or any public list, but anyone with the link can watch with no account. Best for events an organiser wants to share selectively without putting them in front of everyone.
Private
Hidden and locked. A signed-in visitor can open the event page and see its basic details, but the live map, leaderboard, results and replay only open to people taking part or on the event's staff. You join one of those groups by registering with the access code the organiser shares. Someone with no account at all who tries the link is told the event can't be found (its existence isn't revealed to them). Best for closed, invite-only events.
Members
Visible only to signed-in members of the club hosting it, plus participants and staff. It never appears in Events. Someone with no account at all who tries the link is told the event can't be found, the same as a private event; a signed-in visitor who isn't part of the club is blocked from the live action rather than told it doesn't exist. Good to know (for organisers)
- You set the privacy level when you create the event, and you can change it later. Switching a public event to private or members will stop existing public links working for people without access.
- Private and members events deliberately stay out of discovery and don't announce themselves to followers — they're closed by design.
