Your profile is your page on Aster. From Edit profile you can set:
- Display name: how you appear on leaderboards and your profile (required).
- Photo and banner: you crop each before it's saved.
- Bio and location.
- Social links: Strava, Instagram, Twitter/X and a website.
- Link my name from leaderboards: off by default, so a race alias isn't tied to this profile unless you choose. Turn it on to make your name on event leaderboards link back here.
- An optional emergency phone number you can choose to show to whoever handles your Alert. It's off by default and never appears publicly. See Alert and crash detection.
Your handle (@username)
A handle is a short, unique @username used to link to a profile and to
@mention it in posts and comments. People, teams, events and organisers
can all have one, which is what makes @mentions work across the app:
tapping a mention takes you straight to whoever or whatever it points to.
See Key concepts.
Handles are lowercase, 2 to 30 characters, made of letters, numbers, hyphens and underscores, and a set of common words is reserved. Even without a handle, you're still reachable: mentions and leaderboards link to your athlete page directly.
What's public vs private
- Public: your display name, photo, banner, bio, location, social links, your follower and following counts, your completed events, and your public activities and posts.
- Private: your email and password are never shown. An emergency phone number, if you add one, is never public. Just Rides are visible only to you and anyone with the watch link.
Good to know
- Links you add are checked for safety before they're shown.
- Changing your photo cleans up the old one automatically.
- Your athlete page lives at a web address based on your account, and people can also reach you through your @handle.
- To take your data with you or remove your account entirely, see Export or delete your data.
