Preferences and quiet hours

Turn individual alerts on or off and set quiet hours, from Notification settings.

Updated 28 August 2026

You choose exactly what Aster sends you. In the app, open Profile → Notification settings.

Turn individual types on or off

Notification settings groups your alerts so you can keep the ones you want and mute the rest:

  • Alerts about athletes you follow: race progress; stoppages and off-route; race finishes and cutoffs; feed-zone approaches.
  • Events: event reminders and announcements; new events from organisers you follow.
  • Clubs: board posts; new rides or runs; ride or run reminders; ride or run chat.
  • Safety: safety alerts.
  • Social: new followers, messages, likes on your posts, comments on your posts, and mentions.

Muting a type stops both the push and the in-app entry for it. See the full list in Notification types.

The master push switch

At the top is a single Push notifications switch, the master on/off for push on this device.

Good to know: turning push off still keeps your in-app alerts list working. You'll catch up in the app instead of getting buzzed, so you never silently lose track of what happened.

Quiet hours

Turn on quiet hours to pause push overnight (a sensible 10 pm-7 am window is set for you, which you can change). Pick the From and Until times in your own local time.

Pushes are simply held during the window, everything still appears in your alerts list, so nothing is lost. You just won't be buzzed while you sleep.

Safety alerts ignore quiet hours and always come through.

Who can watch you

The same screen has a Who can watch me section, where you decide whether your followers get a notification (with a watch link) when you start a Just Ride or a race. This is about who can follow you live, see following and your feed.

Tips

  • If you follow a lot of athletes in one race, the watching alerts (progress, stoppages) can add up. Mute the group you don't need for that race.
  • Event reminders are on by default so you don't miss a start.
  • If push is on but nothing arrives, check Push notifications and devices, the app will also warn you on this screen if your phone is blocking notifications.
